This isn’t a puff puff paint class where everyone copies the same picture. It’s a small group limited from 2 to 6 people who want to create something unique.
You’ll learn how to build your own painting through color, composition, layering, mark making, and creative decision-making. Every canvas is different because every artist is different.
Designed for Beginners
You don’t need any experience. We’ll guide you from a blank canvas to a finished painting in about two hours. Bring your curiosity.
Where it happens
High Art Sesh runs out of a home art studio in a private apartment on the Upper Eastside, near Laguna and Sola. Six painters max, an easel for everyone, good light, and none of the franchise paint-bar energy. It’s small on purpose.
The studio is on the second floor, up one flight of stairs, and there’s no elevator. Street parking is usually easy on the surrounding blocks. Please give yourself an extra ten minutes.

Meet your artist
Marlyn Daggett is an abstract expressionist painter based in Santa Barbara. She holds a BA in Studio Art from UCSB, is represented locally by Art & Soul Gallery, and has shown work in galleries up and down the California coast.
She’s also known for her collaborative murals, where participants sign their names in paint stick and she blends the marks into one finished piece. At High Art Sesh, she teaches those same techniques directly, so you can use them on a canvas of your own.

No. Every session is designed so beginners can succeed while still being interesting for people who have painted before.
Yes, and plenty of people do. Sessions run with two to six painters, so you’ll be in a small group either way.
A sesh needs at least two painters to run. If yours doesn’t reach two, you choose another date or a full refund.
